Estimator - Commercial Fit-out

ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Estimator/Contract Administrator to join our growing commercial fitout team. The role involves preparing accurate cost estimates, tenders, and material take-offs across a variety of fit-out projects.

This position is documentation-focused and requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in tendering and estimating processes, and the ability to coordinate effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare accurate and timely project estimates, budgets, and tender submissions for commercial interior and fit-out projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to quantify materials, labour, and subcontractor requirements.
• Be able to develop feasible construction methods and pricing solutions during the quotation stage, especially when design documentation lacks or provides incomplete construction details.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain and assess quotations for competitiveness and compliance.
• Develop and maintain cost databases, rate libraries, and pricing templates to support consistent estimating practices.
• Draft, review, and manage contract documentation, purchase orders, and progress claims.
• Coordinate contract administration throughout project delivery, including variations, RFIs, and progress reporting.
• Collaborate remotely with the design and project teams to ensure alignment of scope, cost, and timelines.
• Support project managers in monitoring budgets and forecasting project financial performance.
• Maintain accurate digital records and ensure timely communication of project updates and deliverables.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, building design or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of demonstrated practical site experience in estimating and/or design within building, commercial interior, or fit-out environments.
• Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and scope documents.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills; able to engage confidently with clients, suppliers, and team members.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with estimating or project management software is advantageous.
• Highly organised with strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects independently in a remote setting.
• Professional, proactive, and collaborative approach to problem-solving and client service.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite (PDF Markup Tools)
• Ability to read, interpret, and annotate architectural drawings, technical plans, and material specifications.
• Document Control Systems: Familiarity with Google Workspace or Dropbox for remote document management and version control.
• Communication Tools: Competent use of Teams, Zoom, or Slack for remote coordination and client meetings.
• Experience in commercial, retail, and hospitality design is highly preferred.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a remote setup.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.

Work Set-up & Requirements:

• The candidate must provide their own computer (desktop or laptop) equipped with the required software.
• A stable internet connection is essential for seamless communication and file sharing.
• The applicant must be willing to be monitored during work hours via video or CCTV camera for accountability and productivity tracking.
• Must be available to work full-time, following a fixed schedule aligned with the team's operating hours.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent communication with the team.
