Purchasing Supervisor Responsibilities

· Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies to optimize purchasing activities and achieve cost savings while meeting quality and delivery requirements.

· Collaborate with internal departments to understand their purchasing needs, forecast demand, and develop procurement plans accordingly.

· Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and vendors based on price, quality, reliability, and delivery performance.

· Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable pricing and contractual agreements.

· Monitor and analyze market trends, supplier performance, and product specifications to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

· Manage the purchase order process, ensuring accurate and timely purchase order creation, issuance, and tracking.

· Oversee the supplier evaluation and qualification process, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and standards.

· Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal procurement policies, such as ethical sourcing, sustainability, and diversity initiatives.

· Resolve supplier-related issues, including disputes, quality concerns, delivery delays, and payment discrepancies.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and quality assurance, to ensure alignment and effective communication throughout the procurement process.

· Supervise and provide guidance to the purchasing team, including training, performance evaluation, and professional development initiatives.

Purchasing Supervisor Required Skills

· Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices.

· Proficiency in using procurement software and systems.

· Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong leadership and supervisory skills.

· Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.

· Proven experience as a Purchasing Supervisor or in a similar procurement role.

· In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, procedures, and best practices.

· Familiarity with sourcing and procurement tools and technologies.

· Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and procurement software.

· Strong understanding of financial principles and budget management.

· Excellent organizational and time management skills.

· Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) is a plus.
