Job Brief

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. In this role, you'll play a critical part in maintaining the financial health of the organisation by ensuring all accounts payable transactions are handled accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with internal policies and Australian accounting standards. This is an Office-based role.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify invoices for accuracy, completeness, and policy compliance
  • Process supplier invoices and payments on time and in line with agreed terms
  • Reconcile vendor statements and promptly resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date AP records and reports
  • Assist in month-end closing and reporting activities related to accounts payable
  • Respond to supplier queries and manage payment communications
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, approval workflows, and accounting regulations
  • Collaborate with procurement and other internal teams to address invoice or PO discrepancies
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline AP processes and improve accuracy
  • Stay up to date with changes in accounting standards that may affect AP operations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an accounts payable or finance role
  • Sound knowledge of Australian accounting standards and compliance
  • Proficiency in Xero, including experience working across multiple Xero files
  • Familiarity with tracking categories in Xero for reporting and analysis
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for reconciliations and reporting
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with high-volume invoice processing and complex AP cycles
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working with Australian companies
  • Exposure to AP automation tools or workflow management systems
  • Experience with payment platforms or foreign currency transactions

Software Proficiency:

  • Xero
  • Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, Lookups, Reconciliations)
  • Experience with accounting or finance platforms preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent
