Customer Support Specialist
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Customer Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will provide exceptional customer service to patients over the phone, schedule appointments, verify insurance coverage, and maintain accurate patient records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet callers professionally, address patient needs promptly, and resolve issues efficiently
- Schedule primary care appointments, including annual exams, chronic care follow-ups, acute visits, and preventive screenings
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility, including co-pays, deductibles, and network status
- Maintain and update patient records accurately in Athena EHR
- Assist with patient portal setup and troubleshooting
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and timely care delivery
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding test results, referrals, and follow-up instructions in alignment with practice policies
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a medical office setting, preferably in family medicine or internal medicine
- Proficiency in Athena EHR, including scheduling, documentation, and patient communication features
- Strong knowledge of primary care visit types, referral processes, and insurance requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills:
- Expertise in family medicine/internal medicine scheduling protocols
- Proficiency in Athena EHR
- Strong knowledge of insurance verification and referral coordination
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
