Job Overview

The role of a Medical File Reviewer/PHRN involves reviewing medical records, creating synopses to answer medical opinion questions based on the veteran's medical history, and collaborating with medical providers to determine final diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review medical files, create case summaries, and prepare Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs).
  • Assist medical providers during appointments by accessing apps, interviewing veterans, transcribing medical histories, documenting physical examination findings, and completing DBQ spreadsheets.
  • Meet with medical providers to discuss cases and collaborate on diagnoses.
  • Transmit data from DBQ spreadsheets to the client portal and submit completed reports.
  • Respond to queries and addendum reports from clients and coordinate with team members regarding appointments.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing and active PHRN licensure are required.
  • Effective communication skills for working with veterans, medical providers, and colleagues are essential.
  • Independence, flexibility in scheduling, accountability, and proficiency in MS Office applications are also crucial.
  • Supporting process improvement initiatives is key.
