AVP, Modern Trade Channel Development

The AVP, Modern Trade Channel Development is responsible for driving sales growth, building strong customer partnerships, and ensuring sustainable business expansion in the Modern Trade channel of the Meats business. This role focuses on developing strategic plans, managing high-performing teams, and working closely with national retailers to deliver sales, distribution, and financial targets while maintaining operational excellence and fostering innovation.
Key responsibilities:
Goal-Setting and Strategy Development
- Identify sales growth opportunities in the Modern Trade channel.
- Develop the annual channel business plan, including strategies, resources, and key programs to drive sales and profitability.
- Set performance goals and strategies to ensure sustainable growth.
Strategy Communication and Execution
- Clearly communicate company strategies, targets, and priorities to the Modern Trade team.
- Ensure action plans capitalize on market opportunities and address challenges.
- Oversee Customer Development Managers to align execution with team goals.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure compliance with company standards for customer engagement, account planning, inventory, and receivables management.
- Optimize coverage effectiveness and operational efficiency.
People Development
- Develop Group Customer Development Managers and their teams through training and regular performance planning.
- Collaborate with Learning & Capability teams to define competencies and implement talent development strategies.
- Build strong partnerships with modern trade retailers through business reviews, trade visits, and collaborative planning.
- Serve as the main contact for strategic customer engagements.
- Conduct regular distributor assessments to ensure service consistency and compliance with guidelines.
- Evaluate potential distributors to align with company standards.
Financial and Resource Management
- Approve trade budgets, customer terms, and distributor discounts per company policies.
- Ensure efficient resource allocation and promote profitable use of company assets.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts to support supply chain planning.
- Anticipate and communicate changes in purchase trends or brand-driven activities impacting forecasts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of sales experience in foods, fresh/frozen goods, or produce. Experience in Meats is a strong advantage.
- At least 5 years of experience in modern trade and key account management.
