POSITION SUMMARY
The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining, managing, and ensuring the reliability and security of the organization's IT systems. This role involves configuring and supporting servers, networks, and other critical IT infrastructure components, as well as providing technical support to end-users and ensuring systems operate efficiently and securely.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· System Administration:
o Install, configure, and maintain server hardware, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and applications.
o Manage and support virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) to optimize resource utilization.
o Monitor and maintain system performance, ensuring high levels of availability and security.
· Network Management:
o Manage and support the organization's LAN, WAN, and wireless networks, ensuring reliable connectivity and network performance.
o Configure and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
o Monitor network traffic, troubleshoot issues, and optimize network performance.
· Security Management:
o Implement and manage security measures, including firewalls, antivirus solutions, and encryption, to protect IT systems from threats.
o Monitor and respond to security incidents, conducting investigations and implementing corrective actions as needed.
o Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and best practices.
· Backup and Disaster Recovery:
o Implement and manage backup solutions to ensure data integrity and availability.
o Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, regularly testing recovery procedures to ensure they function correctly.
o Perform regular backups and restorations to ensure data protection and business continuity.
· User Support and Training:
o Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues and resolving them in a timely manner.

o Maintain and manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights within the organization's systems.
· Documentation and Reporting:
o Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
o Prepare and deliver regular reports on system performance, security incidents, and other key metrics to IT management.
o Document and track system changes, incidents, and resolutions.
· Software Management:
o Manage software deployments and updates, ensuring all systems are up to date with the latest patches and versions.
o Monitor software usage and licensing, ensuring compliance with software agreements and avoiding unauthorized software installations.
o Evaluate and recommend new software and tools that enhance system functionality and user productivity.
· Continuous Improvement:
o Identify opportunities to optimize and improve IT systems and processes.
o Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in system administration.
o Implement automation and scripting to improve system management efficiency and reduce manual tasks.

COMPETENCIES
· Deep understanding of Windows and Linux server environments, virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V), networking fundamentals, and Active Directory.
· Strong grasp of cybersecurity best practices, threat mitigation, and compliance standards.
· Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve system issues efficiently.
· Effective communicator with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
· Capable of prioritizing tasks in high-demand situations and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
· Precision in documentation, system monitoring, and change control.
· Open to learning and adopting new technologies in a dynamic environment.
EDUCATION
· Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (required).
· Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, MCSA, VMware VCP, or Linux+ are highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE
· 3–5 years of experience in system administration or a related IT infrastructure role.
· Proven experience with server setup, virtualization, and routine maintenance.
· Hands-on experience with backup systems, patch management, and network troubleshooting.
· Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds) and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) is a plus.
