JOB SUMMARY

The System Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of Windows and Linux-based servers and virtualization platforms. The role ensures servers and related infrastructure operate efficiently, securely, and are aligned with PSSLAI's IT standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and support Windows and Linux server environments.
  • Administer directory services, group policies, and remote server access.
  • Perform system health monitoring, performance tuning, and backup verification.
  • Support virtualization platforms (VMware, RHV).
  • Apply OS patches, firmware upgrades, and configuration changes.
  • Respond to incidents and participate in root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and ensure compliance with security baselines.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux administration.
  • Experience in virtualization platforms and high availability clusters.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS/DHCP configurations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for OS and system-level issues.
  • Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash) and familiarity with ITSM tools.
  • Perform Baseline Assessment for Technical Specification on all environments
  • Perform Monthly and Zero-day patches for both Windows and Linux servers

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong proficiency in OpenShift, Kubernetes, and containerization tools.
  • Experience in cloud platforms (AWS, IBM Cloud, Azure).
  • Familiar with DevOps pipelines, GitOps workflows, and automation scripts.
  • Solid understanding of Linux system administration and scripting.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of experience in system administration roles.
  • Certifications in Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE), Red Hat (RHCSA), or VMware (VCP) are preferred
