IT Operations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY
The IT Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organization's IT systems, ensuring they run smoothly, efficiently, and securely. This role involves managing IT infrastructure, coordinating with different departments, and leading a team of IT professionals to support the organization's technological needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· IT Operations Management:
o Oversee the daily operations of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, data centers, and cloud environments.
o Ensure the stability, security, and scalability of IT systems to meet the organization's needs.
o Develop and implement operational procedures to maintain system availability and performance.
· Team Leadership and Development:
o Lead, mentor, and manage a team of IT professionals, including system administrators, network engineers, and support staff.
o Foster a collaborative and proactive team environment, encouraging continuous learning and professional development.
o Ensure the IT team is adequately resourced and equipped to handle the organization's IT needs.
· Incident and Problem Management:
o Manage and respond to IT incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to business operations.
o Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement solutions to prevent future occurrences.
o Maintain and update incident management and disaster recovery plans.
· Vendor and Service Management:
o Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, ensuring they meet performance and service level agreements (SLAs).
o Evaluate and select new technologies and vendors to enhance IT operations.
o Negotiate contracts and manage budgets for IT services and solutions.
· System Monitoring and Performance Optimization:
o Implement monitoring tools and practices to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
o Optimize the performance of IT systems, ensuring they meet current and future business requirements.
o Regularly review and update system configurations to enhance efficiency and reliability.
· Security and Compliance:
o Ensure IT systems comply with relevant security protocols, data protection laws, and industry regulations.
o Implement and maintain security measures, including firewalls, encryption, and access controls, to protect the organization's data and IT assets.
o Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and address vulnerabilities.
· Strategic Planning and Project Management:
o Collaborate with senior management to develop IT operations strategies that align with the organization's goals.
o Plan and execute IT infrastructure projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new implementations.
o Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring successful completion within scope.
· Budgeting and Resource Management:
o Develop and manage the IT operations budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
o Monitor IT expenditures, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
o Allocate resources effectively to support ongoing operations and future projects.
COMPETENCIES
· In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud environments, and system administration.
· Proven experience leading IT teams and managing cross-functional projects.
· Ability to analyze systems and processes to identify areas for improvement.
· Skilled in resolving technical issues and implementing sustainable solutions.
· Strong planning, organizational, and execution skills for managing large IT projects.
· Solid understanding of cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards.
· Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Confidence in making informed decisions under pressure and with limited information.
EDUCATION
· Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (required).
· Master's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or IT Management (preferred).
· Certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CompTIA Security+, or Cisco/Microsoft certifications are advantageous.
EXPERIENCE
· 7–10 years of experience in IT operations or infrastructure management.
· At least 3–5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
· Hands-on experience with server and network administration, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), and monitoring tools.
· Proven track record of managing IT projects, budgets, and teams in a fast-paced environment.
· Experience with IT service management (ITSM) frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., ISO, GDPR, NIST).
