Payroll Assistant Job Description
A Payroll Assistant is responsible for supporting the payroll department in ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee compensation. The role involves maintaining payroll records, verifying attendance and timekeeping data, and assisting in the preparation of payroll reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and verify employee timekeeping records and attendance data.
- Assist in preparing and processing payroll on a scheduled basis.
- Maintain accurate payroll information by updating records, including new hires, terminations, and changes.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits.
- Prepare payroll reports for management and compliance purposes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and government regulations.
- Assist with year-end reporting and tax documentation.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- Experience in payroll, HR, or accounting support is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling numerical data.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel V-LOOK UP, Word); experience with payroll software is a plus.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
