Accounts Payable & Payroll Specialist (Canada) – Project-Based with Potential for Permanent Role

Remote | Independent Contractor

We are looking for an Accounts Payable and Payroll Specialist with solid experience supporting Canadian companies. This is a project-based role with the possibility of transitioning into a long-term or permanent engagement based on performance and business needs.

About the Role

You will handle end-to-end accounts payable processing, payroll preparation, reconciliations, and compliance tasks for our Canadian clients. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, understands Canadian payroll rules, and is comfortable working with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

  • Process vendor invoices and ensure accuracy of coding and approvals
  • Match POs, receipts, and invoices when required
  • Monitor aging and prepare payment runs
  • Reconcile vendor accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain organized AP records and ensure timely month-end cut-off

Payroll (Canada)

  • Prepare biweekly or semi-monthly payroll for Canadian employees
  • Validate timesheets, overtime, vacation, and statutory leaves
  • Ensure correct deductions (CPP, EI, taxes, benefits)
  • Coordinate with HR for new hires, terminations, and updates
  • Generate payroll summaries and support government remittances
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee information

General Support

  • Assist with reconciliations, schedules, and audit support
  • Handle ad hoc finance and administrative tasks assigned by the client

Qualifications

  • Graduate of BS Accountancy, Accounting Technology, or related field
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in Accounts Payable and Payroll
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll standards, government remittances, and employment basics
  • Experience using QuickBooks Online, Xero, WagePoint, ADP, Ceridian, or other Canadian payroll tools
  • Strong English communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently
  • Stable internet connection and a professional remote setup

Work Arrangement

  • Project-based contract to start

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: Php35, Php45,000.00 per month
