Brief Job Summary:

The Deputy Chief Accountant shall be reporting directly to the Chief Accountant and shall lead the day-to-day aspects of the group's accounting functions, managing a team of accounting staffs. He/She will handle full spectrum of financial and cost accounting roles e.g. AR, AP, JE, GL, etc., and shall be responsible for the effective implementation of the company's internal control.

Job Qualification:

  • Must be a CPA.
  • With at least 5 years related experience in accounting and taxation
  • Strong knowledge in general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial reporting and analysis
  • Has experience in handling full sets of accounts
  • Familiar with BIR reporting e.g. VAT, EWT, corporate taxation, et. al
  • Passion for doing impactful work, accountability for actions, full initiative and integrity that places honesty above all else
  • Creative and innovative approach to problem solving; Ability to develop solutions and communicate across the team in an effective manner
  • Proven team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently

Job Description:

  • Organize, coordinate and supervise the accounting operation of Pontefino and 1771 group of companies through the effective implementation of accounting internal controls, providing managerial skills, direction and guidance to accounting staffs.
  • Recording, classifying and summarizing financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting standard
  • Review and approval of all accounting entries prior to posting.

o Ensure that compliance of the minimum standards set for the documentation and approval of transactions are met.

o Ensure that transactions which do not comply with the required standards and policies are routed for resolution and follow up on the final outcome.

  • Assist in the review of the statutory and BIR reports to ensure that they are free from misstatements and are submitted on time

o Monthly remittance returns for SSS, PHIC and HDMF

o Monthly, Quarterly and Annual BIR Reports & Remittances

  1. VAT

  2. Withholding tax (Expanded and Compensation)

  3. Income Tax

  4. Assist in the review of the financial statements and auditing activities by providing necessary information and preparing requested documentation.

  5. Performs all necessary accounting functions specifically in the areas of account balancing, intercompany reconciliation, ledger reconciliation, reporting and discrepancy resolution.
  6. Develop and maintain financial databases as source of financial information. Compile and analyze data for strategic planning.
  7. Introduce improvements/ new processes in the workflow area.

o Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions

  • All other accounting task assigned by the management.
