The Accounting Supervisor oversees day-to-day accounting operations, ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, and leads a small team handling general accounting, AP/AR, payroll coordination, and compliance (including BIR requirements). The role supports month-end/year-end closing, maintains internal controls, and assists audits and management reporting.


Key Responsibilities
1) Team Supervision & Daily Operations
  • Supervise and review work of accounting staff (e.g., AP/AR, general ledger, payroll support, billing, collections).
  • Assign tasks, set deadlines, check accuracy/completeness, and coach team members for performance improvements.
2) Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
  • Manage/coordinate month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare or review journal entries, schedules, and reconciliations (bank, balance sheet accounts).
  • Support preparation of financial statements and management reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash position).
3) Compliance (BIR and other regulatory requirements)
  • Ensure proper recording and documentation of transactions in compliance with company policy and applicable accounting standards.
  • Prepare/review tax-related schedules and assist in timely filing requirements (as assigned by the Accounting Manager/Controller).
4) Internal Controls & Process Improvement
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls (approvals, documentation, segregation of duties).
  • Improve SOPs and assist in streamlining accounting processes to reduce errors and close faster.
5) Audit & Coordination
  • Assist internal/external audit requirements: gather schedules, support walkthroughs, respond to audit findings, and ensure documentation readiness.
  • Coordinate with other departments (Operations, HR, Procurement) for accounting support and issue resolution.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accountancy/Accounting/Finance.
  • Experience: With 5+ years accounting experience, with supervisory/team lead exposure preferred.
  • License (often preferred): CPA is an advantage; some employers require it for supervisory roles.

  • Skills/Tools:

  • Strong knowledge of general accounting, AP/AR, payroll coordination, reconciliations, and reporting.

  • Comfortable with ERP/accounting software (e.g., SAP/other ERP) and advanced Excel.
