ABOUT THE ROLE...

Job Summary:

Reporting directly to the Head of People and Culture, the Payroll and HR Officer is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for the company's workforce, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, awards, and company policies. This role will also provide administrative support for the full lifecycle of an employee, including recruitment, onboarding, reviews and offboarding.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Payroll Administration

  • Accurately prepare, process, and reconcile payroll in accordance with agreed schedules.
  • Maintain payroll records, ensuring employee data is accurate and up to date.
  • Calculate and process leave entitlements, terminations, overtime, allowances, and deductions.
  • Prepare and distribute payslips and related payroll reports.
  • Review of all casual timesheets and cross referencing overtime with Venue Managers
  • Preparing overtime reports for review

2. HR & Employee Support

  • Respond to employee payroll-related queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all payroll and employee records.
  • Set up all employee contracts and manage the internal onboarding of new employees
  • Manage all changes to employee payroll in both HRIS (Tanda) and the payroll system (Netsuite)
  • Responsible for all administrative tasks relating to the lifecycle of employees, including but not exclusive to recruitment, onboarding, inductions, staff files, employee rewards and recognition system, timesheet reports and offboarding
  • Manage the internal intranet
  • Send out and collate data for employee engagement surveys

3. Systems & process improvement

  • Maintain accuracy in payroll and HRIS systems.
  • Recommend improvements to payroll and compliance processes for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure data security protocols are followed at all time

Key Skills and competencies

  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, modern award interpretation, and the Fair Work framework
  • High attention to detail with strong numerical accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in payroll and HRIS software - Netsuite and Tanda preferred but other similar platforms acceptable (e.g., Xero, Employment Hero, MYOB, deputy).
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and discretion when handling sensitive information.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll administration, preferably for Australian businesses.
  • Experience in an offshore/remote working environment desirable.
  • Knowledge of Australian tax and superannuation legislation.
  • Experience working with a rostering system such as Tanda, Deputy or similar
  • Experience using Netsuite for payroll (highly desirable but not necessary
