Position Overview
The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is a senior leadership role responsible for driving revenue growth, client acquisition, and market penetration within an assigned territory. Reporting directly to the Head of Sales (or COO, depending on structure), the RSM leads a high-performing sales team to deliver aggressive business targets, strengthen client relationships, and ensure alignment with the company's strategic objectives in the FinTech and Electronic Money Institution (EMI) sectors.
The RSM acts as the commercial ambassador of the organization within the region, ensuring that all sales activities are conducted with professionalism, compliance, and a deep understanding of financial regulations and client needs.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Performance
- Own and deliver the regional sales targets, driving new business development, cross-selling, and upselling opportunities.
- Build, lead, and mentor a results-driven regional sales team, instilling discipline, accountability, and a culture of high performance.
- Monitor KPIs, pipeline health, and forecasting accuracy to ensure predictable and sustainable revenue streams.
Market & Client Development
- Develop and execute regional go-to-market strategies, ensuring strong positioning in the EMI/FinTech space.
- Establish and maintain senior-level relationships with enterprise clients, financial institutions, regulators, and key stakeholders.
- Identify new market opportunities, partnerships, and verticals that can strengthen the company's regional footprint.
Operational & Compliance Alignment
- Ensure all sales practices adhere to regulatory requirements (e.g., BSP, AMLA, PCI DSS, Data Privacy), protecting the integrity of the organization.
- Collaborate with Operations, Finance, and Compliance teams to align client onboarding, product deployment, and contract execution.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation of sales activities and agreements.
Strategic Planning & Reporting
- Translate corporate strategy into actionable regional sales plans with measurable outcomes.
- Provide regular sales performance reviews, competitor insights, and market intelligence to senior management.
- Contribute to product development feedback loops by relaying client needs and market trends to Product and Technology teams.
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Recruit, develop, and retain top sales talent, ensuring consistent performance and succession planning.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Product, and Client Success to maximize value delivery.
- Represent the company at regional industry events, trade fairs, and networking forums.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 8–12 years of progressive sales leadership experience, with at least 5 years in FinTech, EMI, banking, or payments industry.
- Proven track record of consistently exceeding sales quotas in high-growth environments.
- Strong understanding of digital payments, EMI frameworks, B2B2C financial services, and regulatory landscapes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead regional teams, manage multimillion-dollar sales pipelines, and close enterprise-level deals.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region.
