Key Responsibilities:

Product Innovation & Development:

  • Conceptualize, design, and develop new food products that align with consumer demands and company strategy.
  • Develop and refine recipes that are scalable for mass production, ensuring flavor, texture, and appearance meet brand standards.
  • Conduct pilot trials and work closely with production teams to transition products from prototype to full-scale manufacturing.

Quality and Compliance:

  • Ensure all product formulations meet stringent food safety, hygiene, and nutritional guidelines, including HACCP, ISO, and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions when necessary.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with R&D and technical teams to integrate culinary insights with food science and processing technologies.
  • Partner with marketing and sales teams to support product positioning, packaging concepts, and consumer communication.
  • Liaise with supply chain and procurement to identify and source quality ingredients cost-effectively.

Consumer Focus and Market Analysis:

  • Analyze consumer trends, competitive products, and sensory data to inform product improvements and innovation pipelines.
  • Lead sensory panels, taste tests, and focus groups to gather actionable feedback on new and existing products.

Cost Management:

  • Optimize ingredient usage and recipe formulations to balance product quality with cost efficiency and profitability targets.

Team Leadership and Training:

  • Provide culinary expertise and mentorship to internal teams, including training on new products and culinary techniques.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, quality, and continuous learning within the product development team.

Industry Awareness:

  • Stay informed on emerging food trends, innovative ingredients, and advances in food processing and packaging technologies.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and professional networks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Culinary Arts, Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a chef with strong exposure to FMCG product development and food manufacturing environments.
  • Deep understanding of food technology, mass production processes, and packaging considerations.
  • Expert palate with demonstrated creativity in flavor development and recipe formulation.
  • Thorough knowledge of food safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., HACCP, ISO, FDA).
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.
  • Ability to analyze data and use insights to drive product innovation and improvements.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and capable of working under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
