Network Monitoring Engineer Job Description

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Network Monitoring Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and secure operation of our network systems through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting.

  • We are seeking someone with strong technical skills and experience in network monitoring tools, protocols, and infrastructure.

This position requires excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on complex network issues, implement process improvements, and contribute to the development of our team's technical capabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Implementing and configuring network monitoring tools to track performance metrics and alerts.
  2. Analyzing network traffic patterns and troubleshooting connectivity issues to maintain optimal system performance.
  3. Responding to network alerts and incidents promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
  4. Collaborating with system and network engineers to identify and resolve potential network outages and vulnerabilities.
  5. Maintaining comprehensive documentation of network monitoring processes, configurations, and incident reports.
  6. Conducting regular network assessments and providing recommendations for improvements and optimizations.
  7. Staying updated on the latest networking technologies and trends to enhance monitoring capabilities.
  8. Providing technical support and guidance to junior team members as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in network monitoring or network administration roles.
  • Strong familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., ScienceLogic, SolarWinds, Nagios) and protocols.
  • Solid understanding of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Experience with troubleshooting network performance issues using packet analysis and network diagnostic tools.
  • Knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration across teams.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+) are a plus.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies and cloud-based network monitoring solutions is a plus.
