Job Description

Our organization seeks a skilled Tax Specialist to lead our tax preparation and consulting efforts. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, advising clients on tax-related matters, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Tax Return Preparation: Prepare and review U.S. individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns (Forms 1040, 1120, 1065, etc.)
  • Tax Advisory Services: Advise clients on tax planning, compliance, and structuring matters
  • Tax Representation: Represent clients before the IRS in audits, appeals, and collection cases
  • Tax Compliance: Assist in preparing responses to IRS notices and handling tax controversy matters
  • Timely Filings: Ensure timely and accurate filings with adherence to IRS and state-specific guidelines
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., accounting, legal) on tax issues
  • Staying Current: Keep up to date with U.S. tax laws, international tax treaties, and IRS updates
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • Enrolled Agent (EA) Credential: Must be an Enrolled Agent (EA) with current IRS credentials.
  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in U.S. tax preparation and consulting.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of U.S. tax codes, especially for individuals and small businesses.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with tax software (e.g., Drake, ProSeries, UltraTax, or similar).
  • Accounting Software: Familiarity with QuickBooks or other accounting software.
  • Communication Skills: Solid communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients.
  • Time Management: Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
