I. JOB SUMMARY
To assist/perform preparation of fresh quality baked goods to support the operations of the department.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Performance Measures
- Fresh quality baked products
- Assists the senior baker in the preparation of breads, rolls, muffins, cookies, pies, cakes and other pastries, including icings and frostings, according to established recipes.
- Follows the proper techniques of mixing, kneading, shaping and slicing to provide quality breads.
- Uses ingredient quantities necessary to fill specific bakery orders under the guidance of the senior baker.
- Inspects product for quality during and after baking and make adjustments to processes as required.
- Prepares ingredients, supplies and equipments as required for daily operations.
- Assists the senior baker in regular checking of expiry dates of goods including baking ingredients to ensure freshness and quality of all baked products.
- Assists in receiving and inspection of prepared bakery goods from suppliers for quality and accuracy.
- Assists in production schedules to determine variety and quantity of goods to bake.
- Reports on bad orders and disposal to superiors.
- Bakes special made-to-order cakes or breads.
- Maintains kitchen sanitation and safety according to established guidelines.
Stock Monitoring & Replenishment
- Works closely with the senior baker in monitoring sufficiency and inventory level of baking ingredients such as flour, shortening, sugar, baking powder, etc.
- Promptly requests for baking supplies and ingredients.
- Disposes bad order products according to standard procedures in disposal.
Others
- Attends to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipments and supplies.
- Participates in inventory take of the department.
- Assists in price canvass activity to ensure competitive pricing of bakery products.
- Maintains confidentiality of recipes used.
- Assists in training new bakers in the preparation of breads, rolls, etc.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned either in support of divisional goal attainment or for own personal or professional training, education and development as planned by the superior.
CRITICAL CHALLENGES
- Freshness and quality of all bakery products.
- Timely preparation of all required bakery items to supply demands.
- Product knowledge of all bakery items being sold so that customers can be apprised accordingly when they ask about any product, what it is, it's use or substitute.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education / Professional Experience:
- Vocational training or at least 2 years college education.
- With at least 6 months experience in baking foods.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to prepare and bake at least 1 to 2 recipes.
- Ability to work long hours in extreme temperatures.
