Core Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation: Chopping, slicing, dicing, and measuring ingredients, preparing sauces and marinades, and ensuring all necessary supplies are at the station.
  • Teppanyaki Cooking: Cooking a variety of teppanyaki dishes, including meats, seafood, and vegetables, using specialized cooking techniques like grilling, frying, and sautéing.
  • Customer Interaction: Engaging with guests during the cooking process, explaining dishes, and performing knife tricks or other showmanship to enhance the dining experience.
  • Food Quality and Presentation: Ensuring that all dishes meet the restaurant's standards for taste, appearance, and portion size.
  • Hygiene and Sanitation: Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, following food safety guidelines, and properly handling and storing food.
  • Inventory Management: Monitoring stock levels, communicating shortages, and potentially placing orders for supplies.
  • Collaboration: Working effectively with other kitchen staff, servers, and management to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Training: May be involved in training junior kitchen staff or new cooks.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Culinary Skills: Proficiency in various cooking methods, especially grilling, frying, and sautéing, as well as knife skills.
  • Knowledge of Japanese Cuisine: Understanding of teppanyaki cooking and common dishes.
  • Experience Requirements: Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of teppanyaki cooking experience is required.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact with guests in a friendly and engaging manner, explain dishes, and perform showmanship.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with other kitchen staff.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation: Knowledge of proper food handling and storage procedures.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of professional cooking experience is required.
