Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and proactive IT Support Specialist to provide first- and second-level technical support for desktop systems and related peripherals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hardware and software troubleshooting, user support, and network connectivity, with a focus on maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring a secure computing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Desktop & Peripheral Support

  • Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, scanners, and other peripherals
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware issues including component failures and connectivity problems
  • Coordinate with vendors for warranty claims and technical assistance

Software Installation & Maintenance

  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and productivity tools
  • Manage software updates, patches, and license compliance
  • Create and manage user accounts, profiles, and access permissions

User Support & Training

  • Deliver prompt and professional support via phone, email, and in-person
  • Educate users on basic operations, software usage, and security best practices
  • Document recurring issues and solutions for internal knowledge sharing

Network Connectivity

  • Assist users with wired and wireless network setup and troubleshooting
  • Ensure access to shared resources (e.g., file servers, printers, network drives)
  • Collaborate with network teams to resolve complex connectivity issues

Security & Data Protection

  • Enforce desktop security protocols including antivirus, password policies, and encryption
  • Monitor for threats such as malware, phishing, and unauthorized access
  • Support data recovery efforts and promote user security awareness

Asset Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory of desktop equipment and peripherals
  • Coordinate with procurement for hardware lifecycle management

Collaboration & Teamwork

  • Work closely with IT colleagues to resolve cross-functional technical issues
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in desktop support or related IT roles

  • Strong knowledge of desktop hardware components and troubleshooting tools

  • Proficiency in Windows, macOS, and Linux environments
  • Familiarity with scripting (PowerShell, Bash) for automation

  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (IP, DNS, DHCP)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities

  • Patience and empathy in handling user concerns

  • Knowledge of IT security principles and threat prevention

  • Experience with antivirus tools and data protection practices
