Labor Relations Specialist

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Labor Relations/ HR Specialist to independently handle labor relations matters while working under the direction and guidance of Head of HR. This mid-level role involves direct case management, employee interaction, and growing involvement in labor relations strategy and negotiations. As part of the HR Team, you will also be expected to assist in other HR facets, but with LR as your primary focus.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management & Grievance Handling
- Independently investigate and respond to employee grievances and labor relations issues
- Conduct fact-finding interviews with employees, supervisors, and witnesses
- Draft responses to grievances in accordance with collective bargaining agreements
- Recommend resolutions and corrective actions based on investigation findings
- Escalate complex cases to HR Head as appropriate
Labor Agreement Administration
- Provide guidance to supervisors and managers on contract interpretation
- Assist in documenting contract violations and preparing disciplinary actions
- Track and analyze grievance patterns to identify recurring issues
Employee Relations
- Attend labor-management meetings and document proceedings
- Respond to routine labor inquiries from employees
- Support efforts to foster positive labor relations climate
Compliance & Policy Implementation
- Ensure departmental compliance with labor laws and organizational policies
- Monitor adherence to grievance timelines and procedural requirements
- Conduct regular reviews of labor relations practices across departments
- Assist in updating labor relations procedures and guidelines
- Support internal audits related to labor compliance
Training & Advisory
- Conduct training sessions for supervisors on grievance handling and contract administration
- Provide coaching to front-line managers on labor relations best practices
- Assist in advising management on appropriate disciplinary actions and documentation
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain comprehensive case files and grievance documentation
- Prepare regular reports on labor relations activities and trends
- Document meetings, hearings, and investigative findings
- Track and report key metrics related to grievances and labor issues
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Industrial Relations, or related field
- 2-4 years of progressive experience in labor relations, employee relations, or HR
- Working knowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining agreements, and grievance procedures
- Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work independently with moderate supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
