What You'll Do

This role is about leading growth — not just in numbers, but in relationships, systems, and strategy. As our Business Development & Sales Director, you'll guide how DEQA builds partnerships, wins projects, and sustains purposeful growth. You'll:

  • Lead and manage the BD team (BD Associate + Sales & Marketing Associate), setting clear goals, metrics, and accountability systems
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and regular reviews to align performance with DEQA's culture and growth objectives
  • Develop and implement standardized BD processes, from lead tracking and proposals to CRM and reporting
  • Manage BD technology tools and ensure all data and metrics are accurate and actionable
  • Drive lead generation and client development — identifying new opportunities and nurturing long-term relationships
  • Oversee the full sales cycle: meetings, proposals, negotiations, and closing deals
  • Represent DEQA in client and partner discussions, ensuring clarity, alignment, and professionalism
  • Review contracts and documents such as TORs, and NDAs to safeguard DEQA's positioning and clarity of scope
  • Track and report BD metrics such as proposals sent, contracts closed, and leads in pipeline
  • Conduct post-award or declined project reviews to extract insights for future improvement
  • Research market shifts, competitor movements, and new service opportunities to inform strategic direction
  • Experience in architecture, design, real estate, or construction industry is preferred but not required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Architecture, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in business development or sales leadership (preferably in design, real estate, or construction industries)
  • Proven experience managing teams and systems (CRM, sales pipelines, reporting tools)
  • Strategic thinker with excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
