Facade Designer

Job Description

The Facade Designer is creating innovative facade solutions for various building projects, ensuring that they are functional, aesthetic, and compliant with relevant regulations and standards. The Facade Designer will collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to create designs that enhance the overall building performance and appearance.  

Duties

  • Analyze the technical specifications and the project "scope of work"
  • Develop the shop drawings and fabrication drawings to meet the project requirement / specification
  • Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents related to facade systems
  • Coordinate the deliverables with other internal shareholder, such as procurement, production and site
  • Follow the quality controlling process of all drawing submissions
  • Research and recommend suitable materials for facade construction that meet aesthetic, functional, and sustainability criteria
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to source materials and ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Ensure that all final design tally with the engineering calculations
  • Attend design workshops and project meetings for all the design discussions as required by the Project Design Manager

Qualifications

  • College Degree, Bachelor or equivalent experience "On-Job-Training" in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Architectural Studies
  • International work experience in facade industry
  • Recognition through prior learning through industry experience
  • The job holder is required to complete an advanced internal training for material, design and design management
  • Communication Level English is necessary. Proficiency of language in country of operation / employment would be of advantage
  • Knowledge in unitized curtain wall, glass wall and façade stick system design
  • Awareness of basic building physics in thermal insulation, glare and condensation
  • Basic structural engineering knowledge would be an advantage

Technical Skills

  • Well versed with 2-D and 3-D design software including but not limited to AutoCAD, Advance Steel, Athena
  • Experience in other relevant computer software such as Rhinoceros, Revit, Inventor, Grasshopper, would be an advantage
  • Well versed with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Powerpoint

Experience

  • Designer minimum of 2-5 years of experience
  • Experience in operable element, such as windows and doors, hardware selection, design and engineering, assembling and installation method would be an advantage
  • Practical experience in curtain wall production would be an advantage
  • Practical experience in curtain wall installation would be an advantage
