The Accounting Specialist is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records through the management of the General Ledger (GL). This role involves preparing and posting journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with the month-end and year-end close processes. A significant part of the role is ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws by preparing and filing various local and national tax returns.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. General Ledger: Prepare and accurately post complex journal entries; manage recurring entries; and reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.
  2. Month-End Close: Assist in the timely and accurate completion of the month-end close process, ensuring all accruals and prepayments are recorded.
  3. Tax Compliance: Prepare and file various tax reports (e.g., Sales Tax/VAT, Withholding Tax, etc.) and support the preparation of corporate income tax returns.
  4. Reporting: Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial statements and supporting schedules.
  5. Audit Support: Provide necessary documentation and analysis for internal and external audits.

Education & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in a General Ledger accounting role.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical Knowledge: Foundational understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or IFRS.
  • Tax Knowledge: Proven experience or strong working knowledge of preparing and filing various business tax forms (e.g., sales, use, or withholding taxes).
  • Software Proficiency: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and experience using a major Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.).
  • Attributes: High level of attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Legal: Must be legally authorized to work in the country/region of employment.
