A Credit Specialist is responsible for evaluating, approving, or recommending the approval of credit applications for individuals and businesses. They assess creditworthiness, analyze financial data, ensure compliance with lending policies, and manage customer relationships to support the institution's growth and credit risk objectives.

Credit Assessment & Evaluation

  • Review and analyze loan applications, financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant information.
  • Assess the creditworthiness of applicants using financial ratios, cash flow analysis, and risk metrics.
  • Recommend approval, decline, or modification of loan applications based on assessment results.

Loan Processing & Approval

  • Prepare detailed credit appraisal reports for management or credit committees.
  • Ensure loan documentation complies with internal policies and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor approved loans to ensure timely disbursement and proper utilization of funds.

Portfolio Management

  • Monitor existing credit portfolios to identify early warning signs of potential defaults.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and revaluations of customer credit limits and risk grades.
  • Implement corrective actions for non-performing accounts.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their financial needs.
  • Provide guidance on available loan products and credit options.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction while maintaining prudent risk management.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Adhere to all banking regulations, credit policies, and risk management procedures.
  • Prepare periodic reports on loan performance, delinquencies, and risk exposure.
  • Support internal and external audits as required.
