The Laboratory Manager plays a key leadership role in ensuring the efficient management and continuous improvement of Clinical Laboratory operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • He/she is responsible for implementing policies and guidelines consistently across all units under his/her supervision, including the fair and proper enforcement of disciplinary actions.
  • This person will directly supervise, mentors, and coaches Unit Heads and Officers in managing their respective teams, while monitoring unit performance and ensuring effective utilization of allocated budgets.
  • Overseeing the professional growth and performance of all laboratory personnel, serving as the main point of contact for staff on internal tasks and technical issues, and regularly meeting with Unit Heads to review concerns.
  • Attend matters requiring higher-level decisions are escalated to the Senior Manager for Clinical Laboratory Operations. This is to is further tasked with evaluating and recommending new instruments and technologies to strengthen laboratory capabilities and closely collaborating with Unit Heads, Officers, and the Senior Manager in formulating or enhancing laboratory policies, guidelines, and investment plans.
  • In addition, the Laboratory Manager is responsible for the proper documentation and updating of laboratory procedures and ensures that job descriptions for Clinical Laboratory personnel remain accurate and up to date.
  • He/she may also be assigned other duties as required by the immediate superior, aligned with the responsibilities and proficiency expected of the role.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A graduate and licensed Medical Technologist, preferably with additional certifications in Clinical Laboratory Science or a related field.
  • Possesses at least 10 years of progressive experience in clinical laboratory operations in hospital, including a minimum of 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Has proven expertise in policy implementation, process improvement, and managing laboratory accreditation and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and commitment with the ability to work onsite and be part of one of our prestigious hospitals.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of clinical laboratory standards, quality control, and regulatory requirements.

  • Proven leadership and people management skills, including mentoring and developing staff.
  • Proficiency in laboratory information systems, documentation, and report preparation.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend laboratory instruments, equipment, and new technologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders (e.g., clients, hospitals, regulatory bodies).
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to continuous improvement.
