Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced HR Employee Relations Specialist to join our team and play a key role in fostering a positive and productive work environment. This individual will manage day-to-day employee relations matters, ensuring that company policies are followed, conflicts are resolved efficiently, and that employees feel supported and engaged. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of employment law, conflict resolution, and best practices for promoting workplace harmony.
Key Responsibilities:
- Employee Relations Support:
Act as the primary point of contact for employees regarding workplace issues, concerns, and disputes. Provide guidance on company policies, procedures, and benefits, ensuring employees are aware of their rights and responsibilities.
- Conflict Resolution:
Mediate and resolve employee conflicts and complaints, using a fair and impartial approach. Work closely with both employees and management to find practical solutions to workplace issues, reducing the need for escalation.
- Policy Interpretation and Guidance:
Advise managers and employees on the interpretation and application of company policies and procedures. Ensure that policies are consistently followed across the organization while remaining in compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Performance Management Support:
Collaborate with managers on performance-related issues, providing guidance on progressive discipline, documentation, and managing employee performance improvement plans (PIPs). Ensure that all actions taken are legally sound and consistent with company policies.
- Investigation and Compliance:
Lead and conduct investigations into employee complaints, workplace misconduct, or harassment allegations. Maintain a neutral stance during investigations and ensure that all findings are thoroughly documented and in line with legal and company standards.
- Employee Engagement and Feedback:
Promote a positive organizational culture by supporting employee engagement initiatives. Collect and analyze employee feedback, identifying areas for improvement and recommending solutions to enhance workplace satisfaction and retention.
- Training and Development:
Develop and deliver training sessions on topics such as conflict resolution, workplace ethics, diversity and inclusion, and understanding employee rights. Empower managers and supervisors with the tools they need to foster a healthy work environment.
- Legal Compliance:
Stay up-to-date with changes in employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, OSHA, EEO), ensuring that company practices comply with applicable legal standards. Coordinate with legal counsel or external resources when necessary.
- Reporting and Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of employee relations issues, investigations, resolutions, and any actions taken. Provide regular reports to senior HR leadership on trends, issues, and initiatives related to employee relations.
- Exit Interviews and Offboarding:
Conduct exit interviews and ensure that the offboarding process is handled smoothly, addressing any concerns or feedback from departing employees to improve the workplace environment.
