We are a forward-thinking company offering an exciting internship opportunity for an Accounts Payable Intern. This remote role is designed for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in accounting and finance, particularly in accounts payable functions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the review and processing of vendor invoices, ensuring they are accurate and complete.
  • Help the accounts payable team with scheduling and preparing payments in alignment with company policies.
  • Support the reconciliation of vendor statements and assist in identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate and organized records of invoices, payment receipts, and vendor correspondence.
  • Aid in generating accounts payable reports, such as aging reports and payment summaries.
  • Perform data entry tasks into Xero and other accounting systems to ensure up-to-date financial records.
  • Assist with processing employee expense reports and verifying their compliance with company policies.
  • Help with the month-end closing process by organizing accounts payable files and providing necessary reports to the accounting team.
  • Communicate with vendors to resolve issues related to invoicing, payments, and other billing inquiries.
  • Participate in training sessions to develop a deeper understanding of accounting processes and Xero software.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Xero accounting software or other cloud-based accounting tools is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and an eagerness to learn more.
  • Strong focus on accuracy and a meticulous approach to financial data entry and document management.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for interacting with team members and vendors.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and willing to learn new software systems.
  • Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks with deadlines in a remote environment.
  • Willingness to learn, take direction, and collaborate with the finance team in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated with a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • Any prior exposure to accounting functions (even if not in a formal internship setting) is an advantage.
  • Exposure to other tools like QuickBooks or Sage can be helpful but is not required.
