They also ensure adherence to accounting standards, assist with audits, and contribute to strategic planning and budgeting. Key responsibilities

  • Supervise staff: Manage, mentor, and guide a team of accountants and clerical staff, assigning tasks and evaluating performance.
  • Oversee daily operations: Manage and supervise day-to-day accounting activities, including payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Ensure accuracy: Guarantee the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, reconciliation of accounts, and preparation of financial statements.
  • Reporting and analysis: Prepare and review financial statements, budgets, and reports. Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Compliance and control: Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
  • Audit support: Coordinate with and provide necessary information for internal and external audits.
  • Process improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency.
  • Cash flow management: Monitor bank balances and cash requirements to maintain healthy cash flow and approve cash disbursements.

Qualifications and skills

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is typically required.
  • Experience: Several years of progressive accounting experience, with at least two years in a supervisory role, is common.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency with accounting software (like QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel are necessary.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial reporting standards, and relevant regulations (such as PEZA and BIR in the Philippines) is crucial.
  • Soft skills: Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills are essential.
