Key Account Specialist

The Key Account Specialist (Modern Trade) is responsible for managing and developing relationships with assigned key supermarket/hypermarket accounts within the modern trade channel. This role focuses on driving sales volume, ensuring optimal product visibility, executing strategic promotional campaigns, and maximizing the overall performance of the company's product portfolio within these high-value accounts.
II. Key Responsibilities
A. Sales and Business Development
- Achieve Sales Targets: Meet or exceed agreed-upon monthly and annual sales and distribution targets for assigned key accounts.
- Joint Business Planning (JBP): Participate in or support the development of annual Joint Business Plans with key account buyers/managers, focusing on assortment, pricing, promotion, and shelf space.
- Negotiation: Execute commercial negotiations (under the direction of a Key Account Manager) regarding product listings, stock orders, and promotional placement with key store contacts (e.g., Category Buyers, Store Managers).
- Financial Management: Monitor and manage trade spend (discounts, rebates, promotional costs) to ensure profitability and adherence to budget.
B. Merchandising and Execution
- In-Store Excellence: Regularly visit assigned stores to ensure flawless execution of company planograms, pricing, and promotional displays.
- Inventory Management: Work closely with store personnel to monitor inventory levels, manage stock rotation, minimize out-of-stock situations, and ensure accurate forecasting for demand planning.
- Display Optimization: Secure and manage secondary display space, end caps, and other high-traffic locations to maximize product visibility and impulse purchases.
- Audit and Reporting: Conduct regular audits of shelf presence, competitor activities, and promotional compliance, providing detailed feedback to the management team.
C. Relationship and Intelligence
- Account Relationship: Build and maintain strong, productive, and collaborative relationships with key decision-makers at the store, regional, and/or head office level of assigned accounts.
- Market Insights: Collect and analyze market intelligence, including competitor pricing, new product launches, and promotional strategies within the modern trade channel.
- Performance Review: Prepare and present regular performance reports, sales analytics, and post-mortem evaluations of promotional activities to internal stakeholders.
