
Bookkeeper/Accountant

A Bookkeeper maintains a company's financial records by recording daily transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, and reconciling bank statements to ensure accuracy. They use accounting software to generate financial statements like the balance sheet and profit and loss statements and prepare financial records for accountants and tax preparers. Key skills for this role include attention to detail, computer proficiency, excellent communication, and strong organizational abilities.
Core responsibilities:
- Documenting financial transaction details and monitoring the transactions
- Preparing and filing financial documents
- Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Fact-checking accounting data
- Reconciling company accounts credit card statements and bank statements.
- Processing payroll and tracking payroll data
- Assisting with tax payments and returns
- Working with staff accountants and management as needed

Recording Financial Transactions: Keeping accurate records of all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments. This involves using accounting software such as QuickBooks, spreadsheets, or ledger books.
Maintaining General Ledgers: Updating and maintaining the general ledger, which is a comprehensive record of all financial transactions.
Reconciling Accounts: Ensuring that the records in the organization's accounts match the corresponding bank statements and correcting any discrepancies. Prepare monthly reconciliations, data entries, and financial statements.
Managing Accounts Payable and Receivable: Tracking and managing money owed by the company (accounts payable) and money owed to the company (accounts receivable).
Ensuring Compliance: Making sure that financial records comply with relevant laws and regulations.
Assisting with Audits: Providing information and documentation required for internal and external audits.
Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations; assist with preparation and review of tax returns.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Helping in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
Expense Tracking: Monitoring and recording expenses, ensuring they are correctly categorized and accounted for.
Requirements:
-Education: Candidates with a bachelor's degree in finance or a closely related discipline preferred.
-Three years of progressive experience in bookkeeping and finance roles.
-Proficiency in USA GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
-Knowledge of financial concepts, debits, credits, and budgeting
-Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
-Ability to perform account reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation
-Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
-Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
