Job Summary:

At Bo's Coffee, we honor the rich tradition of Filipino coffee culture while pushing the frontier of innovation. The Culinary R&D Specialist is responsible for developing new food and beverage offerings, enhancing existing menu items, and ensuring all recipes reflect Bo's Coffee's brand promise: "Your Homegrown Brew." This role requires a balance of culinary craftsmanship, technical precision, and market insight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Menu Innovation:

Research, conceptualize, and develop new menu items (food and beverage) aligned with brand standards, market trends, and operational feasibility.

  • Recipe Engineering:

Standardize and document recipes, ensuring scalability across multiple branches without compromising quality, consistency, and profitability.

  • Product Testing:

Lead sensory evaluations, conduct kitchen tests, and refine products based on customer and operations feedback.

  • Costing and Efficiency:

Work closely with the Finance and Procurement teams to perform detailed ingredient costing and recommend efficient sourcing without sacrificing quality.

  • Menu Engineering:

Analyze menu performance using sales and profitability metrics. Recommend improvements such as product repositioning, re-engineering, or retirement of underperforming items.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration:

Partner with Operations, Marketing, and Training teams to ensure successful product launches and rollouts.

  • Trend Monitoring:

Stay updated with industry trends, emerging ingredients, and global best practices—translating them into innovative yet practical menu ideas for the Filipino palate.

  • Training and Rollout Support:

Train commissary staff, store teams, and franchise partners on new products and preparation techniques.

  • Quality Control:

Conduct regular assessments to ensure that products prepared at all stores maintain brand standards and recipe fidelity.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of Culinary Arts, Food Technology, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related fields.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in culinary R&D, recipe development, and/or menu engineering.

  • Strong kitchen skills, including baking, food preparation, and beverage development.

  • Background in food costing, kitchen operations, and commissary production.

  • Creative mindset with excellent palate and attention to detail.

  • Strong project management skills—able to juggle multiple developments at once.

  • A passion for Filipino flavors and a commitment to innovation rooted in tradition.
