
Lead Retail Operations Specialist

The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for delivering excellence in all aspects of a specialty retail farm and ranch store. This role serves as the second in charge of operations to the Store Manager, with duties including providing leadership and direction to the store team, performing operational activities throughout the store, and promoting a safe and productive work environment.
This position requires proficiency in all areas of the store, with a focus on delivering a Legendary Customer Experience through effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will be able to adapt to changing situations, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities to achieve business objectives.
The Assistant Store Manager plays a key role in shaping the store's culture, fostering a welcoming environment, and ensuring that Team Members mirror the communities they serve. This includes creating a sense of belonging, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, and encouraging continuous learning and development.
Essential Responsibilities- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Work scheduled shifts, with flexibility to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Uphold and promote a safe and productive work environment by following policies and procedures.
- Deliver exceptional customer service through effective communication, active listening, and problem-solving skills.
- Perform opening and closing procedures, including cash handling, inventory management, and security protocols.
- Support Store Manager in Team Member counseling, hiring decisions, scheduling, training, and maintaining a productive work environment.
- Assist with freight movement, merchandising initiatives, feed management, and inventory control.
- Operate equipment safely and efficiently, including cash registers, computers, dollys, handtrucks, forklifts, balers, and other store equipment.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Previous retail leadership experience, preferably in farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding industries.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- High school diploma or equivalent, with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.
- Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete documentation.
- Physical stamina to move throughout the store, lift up to 50 pounds, and operate heavy equipment.
