Key Roles in Mortgage Loan Review

Mortgage loan examiners play a critical part in ensuring the precision and completeness of mortgage loans before they are released to financial markets. As a mortgage loan reviewer with our organization, you will apply your expertise in mortgage regulations, investor requirements, and risk management to deliver robust and defensible loan files.

Chief Responsibilities
  • Loan Preparation & Accuracy: Examine and validate all mortgage loan components, including borrower documentation, financial data, and property appraisals.
  • Ensure all data points and documents in the loan package are accurate, complete, and aligned with Automated Underwriting System (AUS) outputs.
  • Conduct thorough calculations and validations to ensure the integrity and reliability of the loan package.
  • Prepare mortgage loan packages with the highest level of accuracy to meet financial market buyer requirements.
Credit & Risk Mitigation
  • Identify and resolve credit issues to minimize risks, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver loans without errors, apart from permissible compliance deviations, ensuring investor trust and confidence.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation for each underwriting decision, creating a transparent audit trail.
Quality Assurance & Process Improvement
  • Conduct quality checks on completed loan packages to uphold a high standard of accuracy.
  • Stay updated on industry guidelines, investor requirements, and regulatory changes to uphold best practices.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of meaningful experience with mortgage loan underwriting (conventional, FHA/VA, non-QM) for US consumers.
  • Experience and familiarity with TRID guidelines, and agency and investor guidelines (Fannie/Freddie/HUD/VA).
  • Understanding of the mortgage life cycle from end-to-end strongly preferred.
