Job Description

The Quality Assurance Specialist, Coding is responsible for collaborating with internal staff in the development of improved capabilities in documentation, coding, and compliance.

The incumbent assesses and reviews the overall quality of coding on accounts completed by Medical Coders and ensures adherence to workflows and ethical coding. The position requires advanced knowledge of professional coding (CPT, ICD-10-CM and HCPCS).

The Quality Assurance Specialist, Coding designs and implements quality coding review programs, communicates review findings and recommendations to coding management, and obtains statistics and information necessary to assess risk for all areas of coding.

  • Sets team direction, resolves problems, and provides guidance to members of own team
  • Leads, coaches, recognizes, and develops a team of employees in all aspects of the job to meet objectives and maintain company culture, policies, goals, and procedures
  • Administers the Quality Assessment process to ensure all quality standards/targets can be met
  • Daily management of all operational processes to ensure that quality, efficiency, and productivity standards/targets are met
