Inland Operations Coordinator role at Stolt-Nielsen Limited is part of the APAC STC Operations team. The role focuses on coordinating inland activities for exports and imports of bulk liquids within our tank-container network and terminals in key markets. You will help ensure smooth operations, safe handling, and effective communication with suppliers and customers.
What You Will Be Doing
The Inland Operations Coordinator is responsible for efficiently managing interactions with suppliers and customers, meticulously maintaining records, and ensuring that operations run smoothly while adhering to safety regulations. The role resolves issues and facilitates effective communication among STC, our suppliers, and our customers. You will also assist the Operations Team Leads with various projects as they arise and maintain clear and precise communication with local operational teams. You are expected to fully embrace and uphold STC's policies, mission, and vision, actively contributing to the success of the group.
- Order Management – Process customer bookings received via Web, EDI, API & Email, ensuring timely and correct handling of the booking and meeting KPIs. This includes selecting the optimal ocean carrier (based on cost, speed, or sustainability) and communicating vessel/voyage information with the customer.
- Export Documentation – Punctual and precise handling of shipping instructions in alignment with STC's quality procedures. Coordinate the processing and distribution of shipping instructions and ensure that any documentation related to additional charges (e.g., manifest corrections) is advised to customers in a timely manner. Follow up with ocean carriers regarding amendments and ensure timely receipt of the Bill of Lading. Ensure the system contains all necessary updates and relevant information to successfully ship the container.
- Import Documentation – Monitor and control the end-to-end process for imports, verify estimated arrival information, send documentation to the customer, and create/distribute release instructions to ocean carriers and terminals.
- Invoicing – Ensure STC's billing procedures are executed accurately. Issue invoices for additional charges to customers in accordance with STC's additional charge tariff and/or customer-specific billing requirements.
- Inland Coordination – Plan, coordinate and oversee the inland element of exports/imports to ensure timely loading and delivery using the most appropriate transport route and mode.
- Compliance & Safety – Register events/non-conformities when suppliers fail to meet STC's and/or customers' expectations for quality of service. Contribute to identifying root causes and corrective/preventive actions where necessary. Uphold compliance with industry regulations and safety standards, ensuring all operations are conducted safely and responsibly.
- Minor Issue Resolution – Identify solutions to minimize disruptions in the logistics process (e.g., delays, route changes, incidents) and identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and operational efficiencies, driving continuous improvement initiatives within STC's operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience working in a logistics/shipping company in a similar role.
- Proven record of excellent work quality and accuracy; experience working in an international environment.
- Fluent in English; single regional language proficiency preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively convey information to suppliers, customers, and internal teams. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Meticulous in maintaining accurate documentation with a keen eye for identifying errors and discrepancies.
- Ability to actively engage in problem resolution with critical thinking, a growth mindset, and a commitment to personal development.
