PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (COMPETENCY-BASED)



Education

Bachelor's degree relevant to the job, preferably BS Geography, Geomatics Engineering, Information Technology, BS Forestry, or other relevant social science courses


Training

:

At least sixteen (16) hours of relevant training, preferably on Geographic Information System, Systems Analysis Design and Development, Database Management, Information Management and Analysis


Experience

:

At least one (1) year of relevant experience on database management application and administration, utilization of various computer-aided mapping applications, and other relevant experiences in the implementation of DRRM programs, projects, and activities (PPAs)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under general supervision, the GIS Specialist is responsible for assisting and performing Predictive Analytics for Humanitarian Response (PAHR), as well as utilizing, generating, and maintaining spatial databases, spatial technologies and tools, web GIS, and related technologies.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs Predictive Analytics for Humanitarian Response (PAHR).
2. Utilizes and maintains spatial databases, spatial technologies and tools, web GIS, and related technologies.
3. Performs mapping and spatial analyses.
4. Applies emerging and evolving technologies to current and upcoming organizational needs at the operational and tactical levels.
5. Assists in evaluating and piloting technologies prior to major investment or deployment.
6. Prepares required DRRM-related DROMIC reports.
7. Provides technical assistance to LGUs and other counterparts.
8. Performs other related works that may be assigned from time to time by the immediate supervisor and /or higher authorities

JOB OUTPUTS:
1. Predictive Analytics for Humanitarian Response (PAHR), web GIS, spatial database, spatial technologies and tools, mapping, and spatial analyses
2. Evaluation results on web GIS-related technologies for major investment or deployment
3. Feedback reports on field missions / field monitoring visits / technical assistance; meetings, workshops, trainings, etc.; DRRM-related DROMIC Reports, PowerPoint presentations
4. Comments and inputs to correspondences, policies, and guidelines as required by the immediate supervisor
5. Other reports as may be required
