Summary Of Work Activities And Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Janitorial Services Section, the Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for implementing operational standards for cleaning and supervising the work performance of housekeeping maintenance personnel.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

I. Housekeeping and Maintenance

Recommends and implements operational standards and procedures for cleaningOversees the services provided are in accordance to set standards and delivered in a timely mannerLeads the team in the planning and execution of all maintenance related needs and requests of the LS community, when necessaryEnsures stocks of housekeeping supplies and equipment are adequate to maintain the upkeep of the assigned zone, in coordination with the Administration GroupMonitors the issuance of supplies and equipment to the maintenance staffConducts regular audit of supplies & equipment inventory as basis for forecasting to facilitate effective scheduling of ordersMonitors the inventory and condition of all loose furniture and equipment issued in their assigned zoneFacilitates reporting and repairs of defective equipment, furniture, and building systemsReports and recommends to Facilities and Utilities Group needed repairs or replacements of defective equipment or furnitureCoordinates with the Facilities and Utilities Group for preventive maintenance of facilities and other utility improvementsCoordinates with the Administration Group all logistical and set-up requirements of various events in the UniversityFacilitates the assignment of the required manpower and equipmentEnsures the requested services and equipment provided are in working order and delivered in a timely mannerMonitors the issuance and return of the requested furniture and equipmentPrepares estimates for operational costs, for use and reference of the Janitorial Services Section HeadProvides inputs in preparing the budget for housekeeping and maintenance works, and assists in managing and monitoring of the said budget
II. Team Supervision

Supervises, monitors, and evaluates the performance of staff and recommends corresponding personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, and dismissalOrients and trains staff on tasks to be accomplished, the proper implementation of work policies and procedures, and the required specifications and standardsPlans and prepares work schedules and assignments, and scope of work of the supervised staffProvides feedback and coaches staff to further develop their performanceMaintains required records of employee work hours, budgets, payrolls, and other pertinent informationCoaches and mentors the staff to resolve performance concernsGuides the staff in the proper implementation of work policies and procedures, as well as the efficient use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and suppliesInvestigates complaints regarding service provided and, takes corrective actionScreens job applicants and recommends the hiring of new employees, whether regular or casual employeeMonitors attendance and work output of outsourced housekeeping personnel, and coordinates with third- party agency for improvements and corrective action, if necessary

III. Performs other tasks as may be assigned by immediate supervisor or authorized representative

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degreeAt least 3 years of experience in general housekeeping management and people management

Proficiency in written and spoken English and FilipinoTime Management Skills: ability to effectively plan and program the timely: delivery of required outcomesGeneral Housekeeping Skills: ability to establish and implement exceptional standards and methods on proper cleaning and care of furniture, equipment, and facilitiesCommunication skills: ability to understand and effectively respond to both written and oral forms of communicationLeadership skills: ability to confidently lead and influence others positively
