CUSTOMS SPECIALIST

Work Set-up: REMOTE

Work Schedule: 8am – 5pm MST

JOB SUMMARY:

Bilingual (English-Spanish) professional in International Commerce with solid experience in the food and beverage industry. Specialized in the import and export of perishable goods, with proven expertise in international sanitary compliance, customs regulations, and coordination of global logistics operations. Skilled at identifying commercial opportunities in international markets, optimizing logistics costs, mitigating risk, and ensuring regulatory compliance across the global supply chain.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all operational aspects of international import and export activities.
  • Ensure compliance with international regulatory standards, including but not limited to FDA, USDA, FSIS, and global food safety and labeling regulations.
  • Coordinate multimodal international logistics operations under time-sensitive or special handling conditions (e.g., cold chain, urgent air freight, cross-docking).
  • Prepare, review, and manage international trade documentation such as commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, certificates of origin, phytosanitary and sanitary permits.
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with international vendors, customs brokers, freight forwarders, logistics partners, and government agencies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (legal, QA, procurement, warehouse) to align compliance and documentation for seamless border clearance.
  • Monitor and interpret international trade agreements, customs changes, tariff updates, and trade restrictions .
  • Manage customs clearance and classification, ensuring accuracy and minimizing duty exposure.
  • Support audits, product inspections, and traceability reports for customs and regulatory authorities.
  • Contribute to process improvements and digital transformation efforts in trade compliance and logistics efficiency (ERP, TMS, or GTS systems).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in International Trade, International Business, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of INCOTERMS, international shipping terms, and customs procedures.
  • Spanish Bilingual
  • High attention to detail and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills in logistics environments.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Time management and ability to perform under pressure in critical logistics scenarios.
  • Team player with proven collaboration across departments and international counterparts.
  • Familiarity with trade software and platforms

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Php60, Php80,000.00 per month
