Legal Accountant

Job Summary
We are seeking a Legal Accountant to support billing, trust accounting, and financial administration. This position is fully remote and requires prior experience in a U.S. law firm, preferably within Family Law or Bankruptcy.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and finalize client invoices; manage monthly billing cycles; resolve billing discrepancies; and maintain billing records.
- Process payments, refunds, and retainers; assist with trust/IOLTA reconciliations; and support accounts payable/receivable tasks.
- Maintain accurate financial data using practice management/billing software (Filevine preferred); track expenses, fees, and billable items.
- Communicate with clients regarding invoices and payments; coordinate with attorneys and staff to resolve financial issues; maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of billing/accounting experience in a U.S. law firm (2 years preferred)
- Experience in Family Law or Bankruptcy preferred
- Familiarity with Filevine or other practice management systems
- Knowledge of law firm billing practices, trust accounting rules, and basic accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficient in MS Office and cloud-based accounting tools
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment
