Technical Product Owner – Core Insurance Systems
2 weeks ago
Product Owner, you will be accountable for maximizing the value of our health and travel insurance systems by defining what the development team should build and in what order. Acting as the bridge between business units, customers, and the technical team, you'll ensure that every technology initiative directly enhances our policy management, claims, and customer servicing processes.
You'll translate complex insurance workflows and business rules into clear, actionable requirements, prioritize the product backlog, and make critical decisions on scope and trade-offs. Ultimately, you'll ensure that every feature delivered improves efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction across our health and travel insurance operations.
- Makati (Hybrid | M-F) – Rockwell Office
- Full-time | Mid–Senior Level
- Individual contributor working with cross-functional teams
- Assignment: Insurance Business Unit
What You'll Do
Core Duties
Backlog Management. Own and maintain the product backlog for insurance-related systems and tools — including policy administration, claims processing, customer portals, and partner integrations. Continuously refine and prioritize features based on business goals, compliance requirements, and customer impact.
Product Vision & Strategy. Define and communicate the vision and roadmap for digital products that support Pacific Cross's health and travel insurance business. Craft clear user stories that describe how system features will improve the customer and employee experience, supported by detailed acceptance criteria.
Stakeholder Engagement. Collaborate with Operations, Underwriting, Claims, Sales, and IT teams to gather requirements, clarify needs, and ensure all perspectives are represented. Communicate progress and decisions clearly, ensuring alignment across business and technical stakeholders.
Others:
Acceptance and Sign-off. Review completed system enhancements and features to confirm they meet acceptance criteria and align with regulatory, operational, and customer service standards before release.
Technical Decision Support. Engage with developers and IT architects to understand technical implications of insurance workflows — such as data integrity, scalability, integration with third-party systems, and regulatory compliance. Make informed decisions balancing functionality with technical feasibility.
Problem Solving and Decision-Making. Resolve ambiguities, prioritize urgent fixes (such as claims or policy issues), and make real-time trade-off decisions that maintain delivery momentum without compromising quality or compliance.
Prioritization and Focus. Determine which initiatives the development team should tackle next, focusing on features that add measurable value to customer experience, reduce manual processing, or improve cross-country operational alignment.
Stakeholder Translation. Translate insurance business requirements and regulatory language into clear user stories and functional requirements. Likewise, communicate system limitations and timelines back to business users in plain language.
Scope and Trade-off Decisions. Balance competing demands such as speed to market for new insurance products, technical debt reduction, and system reliability. Make tough calls on feature inclusion to avoid scope creep and ensure timely releases.
Requirement Clarity and Alignment. Refine business ideas into well-defined, testable user stories that represent true customer or operational value. Maintain a coherent product roadmap that aligns the development team's work with Pacific Cross's growth and modernization strategy.
