Technical Underwriter

On Overview of your Role

To provide technical support to Affinity business lines in terms of underwriting group accounts, pricing group and health insurances, and facilitating reinsurance transactions incidental to these risk assessment activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Product Profitability.Contributes to the management of the Affinity's loss ratio by strictly adhering to the established underwriting guidelines and pricing standards of the department and Pioneer Group when evaluating new and renewal insurance applications for simple risks to ensure that only the desired and profitable risks forms part of the Affinity's and Pioneer's risk portfolio.
• Experience Management. Communicates professionally with customers, clients, external contacts, and colleagues, and seeks guidance on complex issues, to deliver consistent positive customer and client experiences.

• Process Management.Fulfills the following processes and activities consistently according to agreed-upon quality standards and turn-around time:

• Product Profitability:

• Perform initial analysis for risk assessment and evaluation of insurability for prospective group accounts, including client profiles, historical claims experience, and benefit requirements for Senior Analyst review.

• Preparation of initial computations for proposed premium rates and benefit schedules, ensuring alignment with underwriting guidelines for Senior Analyst review.
• Compilation and initial analysis of claims experience data and profit and loss statements to support the assessment of renewal pricing and terms for group accounts.
• Assistance in the review of insurance contract provisions and endorsement terms to ensure alignment with underwriting guidelines for Senior Analyst validation.

• Stakeholder Management:

• Drafting of responses to routine inquiries and requests from internal clients (Affinity Accounts Sales and Affinity Group Underwriting Support) and external stakeholders (reinsurers and captive representatives), with escalation of complex matters to the Senior Analyst.

• Assistance in the coordination of data and document exchanges with reinsurers, ensuring the proper collation of required information for facultative placements.
• Provide the data for Affinity Group Underwriting Support's proposal generation tasks and systems ensuring completeness before Senior Analyst review.
• Follows established policies and guidelines, suggests improvements based on everyday experience and seeks guidance when needed.
• Resolves simple concerns within their function efficiently and escalates issues as needed to maintain established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Data Management.
• Follows data and document management standards and procedures in handling documents and data to ensure its accuracy and completeness.
• Provides accurate data or completes assigned reports according to specifications while observing the SLA and the data and document management standards and guidelines.

A Bit About You

• Candidate must be a graduate of BS Statistics, BS Applied Mathematics, BS Mathematics, BS Industrial Engineering or any STEM related undergraduate course with several calculus-based statistics courses (at least 9 units);
• With at least 1-3 years working experience; Newly graduates are welcome to apply;
• High proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) applications and Excel VBA;
• Willing to be assigned in our head office in Makati Office.
