Job Description: Executive Chef

The Executive Chef is responsible for overseeing the overall culinary operations of the kitchen, ensuring food quality, consistency, safety, and creativity. They manage menu planning, inventory control, staff supervision, and cost efficiency while maintaining high standards of food presentation and service. The Executive Chef works closely with management to align kitchen operations with the company's goals and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, create, and update menus in line with customer preferences, seasonal ingredients, and cost controls.
  • Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, ensuring proper training, discipline, and professional growth.
  • Monitor food preparation, portioning, and presentation to maintain consistency and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations.
  • Control food costs through effective purchasing, waste management, and portion control.
  • Oversee inventory management, supplier relations, and procurement of quality ingredients.
  • Develop and implement standard recipes and kitchen procedures.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure safe, clean, and organized kitchen operations.
  • Collaborate with management for promotions, events, and customer satisfaction initiatives.
  • Handle budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for kitchen operations.

QualificationsEducation & Experience

  • Degree/Diploma in Culinary Arts, Hotel & Restaurant Management, or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef with at least 5–8 years of culinary leadership experience.
  • Strong background in various cuisines, menu development, and food trends.

Skills & Competencies

  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, local health codes).
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong financial acumen for budgeting, costing, and inventory management.
  • Creativity in menu design and presentation.
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
