
Procurement Assistant

JOB SUMMARY:
The Procurement Assistant is responsible for supporting the procurement team in sourcing, negotiating and purchasing goods and services required by the organization. They work closely with suppliers. Internal stakeholders, and the supply chain to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of quality products or services.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Understand the organization's purchasing policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
2. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the procurement function
3. Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors to encourage competition and obtain the best possible terms
4. Prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with approved requisitions
5. Monitor vendor performance to ensure delivery of goods services in a timely and satisfactory manner
6. Resolve issues with vendors in a professional and efficient manner
7. Maintain accurate records of all purchases, including prices, terms and delivery dates
8. Assist in the development and implementation of new procurement processes and systems
9. Participate in the negotiation of contracts with vendors
10. Perform cost analysis and price comparisons to ensure the most favorable terms
11. Keep abreast of the development in the procurement field to identify new sources of supply and improve methods of procurement
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or related field
· 1-2 years professional experience in procurement or a related field
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
