Head of Commercial

Role Overview
Lead the strategic direction and commercial performance of the Dry Goods category within a dynamic omnichannel retail environment. You will drive category growth and profitability through effective supplier partnerships, compelling assortment development, and seamless integration between offline and digital channels.
Key Responsibilities:
Category Commercial Strategy & Execution
- Define and implement strategic plans for dry goods across channels (cash & carry and retail)
- Drive sales, margin, and market share through compelling mix, pricing, promotions, and private-label offerings.
Sourcing, Supplier Relations & Private Brands
- Manage supplier negotiations for cost, quality, and innovation
- Launch differentiated product ranges
Budgeting, Performance Monitoring & Data Analytics
- Set category budgets (sales, margin, promotional spend).
- Monitor performance (MTD/YTD) across formats and stores; act on insights and optimize assortment accordingly.
- Leverage data and analytics for strategies like dynamic pricing or digital merchandising
Omnichannel Integration & Digital Acceleration
- Collaborate with e-commerce and digital teams to integrate dry goods across online platforms, fulfillment centers, and digital channels (helping maintain leadership in grocery e‑commerce).
- Enable seamless omnichannel shopping via innovative digital experiences
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with supply chain, operations, and category teams for inventory efficiency and launch readiness.
- Collaborate with marketing, store operations, and retail execution teams to ensure optimal in-store and campaign presence.
Market & Consumer Insight Leadership
- Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and consumer shifts—especially in convenience and value preferences post‑economic headwinds.
- Translate insights into actionable strategies for assortment, pricing, and promotions.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Build and mentor a high-performance dry goods commercial team.
- Drive a culture of innovation, customer obsession, and agile execution in a fast-evolving retail landscape.
