Job Description

The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures for interior fit-out projects. This role ensures compliance with safety regulations, conducts risk assessments, and promotes a safe working environment for all employees, subcontractors, and site visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Site Safety Management

  • Monitor daily site activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Enforce compliance with project HSE plans and site safety rules.

Training & Inductions

  • Deliver site-specific safety inductions for workers and visitors.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and regular safety training sessions.

Risk Assessment & Incident Management

  • Prepare Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Risk Assessments, and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Maintain records of inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain and update safety permits, inspection reports, and safety logs.
  • Ensure documentation complies with local labor laws and international HSE standards.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Oversee the implementation of emergency response plans.
  • Ensure fire exits, evacuation routes, and firefighting equipment are accessible and functional.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field (at least high school graduate may apply).
  • 3–5 years of HSE experience, preferably in interior fit-out or commercial construction.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE standards, risk assessment, and incident reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced site environments.
  • Proficient in preparing safety reports and documentation.

Job Type: Fixed term

Contract length: 6 months
