JOB SUMMARY
The Health and Safety Officer (HSO) is responsible for ensuring a safe, healthy, and secure working environment for all broadcasting staff, talents, guests across the company's offices, studios, and field operations. The HSO ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) and DOLE regulations, and develops proactive measures to minimize risks in both in-station and on-location broadcasting settings.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Regulatory Compliance
a Ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) and relevant DOLE issuances including RA 11058 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.
b. Submit reports such as Work Accident/Illness Report (WAIR), Annual Medical report (AMR) and other compliance documents.
Studio and Field Safety Monitoring
a Conduct regular inspections of broadcast studios, officers, transmitter sites and field reporting equipment for safety and fire hazards.
b. Recommend corrective actions for any identified risks (e.g. faulty electricals, cramped workstations, exposure during field coverage)
Incident and Emergency Management
a Lead investigations on workplace accidents or broadcast-related incidents and documents findings.
b. Facilitate emergency drills such as fire and earthquake drill and ensure staff participation.
Health Programs
a Support the implementation of workplace health programs including mental health initiatives, ergonomic assessments for anchors/DJs and pandemic safety protocols.
b. Coordinate with healthcare providers and government agencies for staff health and wellness activities.
Training and Orientation
a Provide safety orientation for new employees, talents and interns.
b. Conduct regular training on topics such as fire safety. Field coverage safety, first aid, and incident reporting.
Safety Committee Participation
a Serve as a Secretary or active member of the Company's Health and Safety Committee.
b. Assist in organizing committee meetings and drafting minutes and safety updates.
Coordination and Liaison
a Coordinate with building administrators, emergency responders, and local DOLE offices on matters related to workplace safety.
b. Ensure service providers, suppliers, and guests adhere to company safety protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Graduate of any four (4) year course; degree in Nursing, Engineering, Occupational Safety is an advantage
· Must have completed the Basic Occupational Health and Safety Training Course (40 hours)
· Must have First Aid and Fire Safety Training
· At least 5 years of experience in safety related role background in broadcasting/media is a plus 3 years of which must be in a Supervisory level
· Knowledgeable in DOLE compliance and occupational health policies
· Strong attention to details, proactive, and good communications skills
