- Training and Education: Safety officers provide training to employees on safety protocols, procedures, and the proper use of safety equipment. This might involve organizing workshops, seminars, and other training sessions.
- Enforcing Safety Regulations: They ensure that all safety regulations and standards are adhered to within the organization. This may involve monitoring compliance and taking corrective action when necessary.
- Investigating Incidents: Safety officers investigate accidents, injuries, or near misses to determine their root causes and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
- Maintaining Safety Records: They maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions. These records are often required for regulatory compliance and may be used for future reference.
- Advising Management: Safety officers advise management on safety-related matters, including recommending improvements to workplace safety practices and procedures.
- Emergency Preparedness: They develop emergency response plans and procedures for various scenarios such as fires, natural disasters, chemical spills, etc. They may also conduct drills to ensure employees are prepared for emergencies.
- Safety Audits and Inspections: Safety officers conduct regular audits and inspections of the workplace to ensure compliance with safety regulations and identify areas for improvement.
- Promoting Safety Culture: They promote a culture of safety within the organization by raising awareness, fostering a positive attitude towards safety, and encouraging employees to actively participate in safety initiatives.
- Management of company drivers which includes signing of driver agreement, review of Vehicle Monitoring Checklist daily, and report any problems, damages to vehicles, accidents etc.
- Inventory management, monitoring and inventory count.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor related to all above roles.
QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor Degree safety officer related course
- Preferably with COSH Certification
- With or without as safety officer
- With or without experience
- In-depth knowledge of construction industry regulations.
- Exceptional leadership, project management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Great mathematical, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willing to relocate.
