Job Description

As a Senior Bookkeeper, you'll oversee client financial records, payroll, and compliance processes while mentoring junior staff. You'll ensure operational accuracy, maintain bookkeeping standards, and strengthen workflows that support both local and global business success.

The Qualifications We Seek

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of relevant experience
  • Certificate IV in Bookkeeping

Experience:

  • Preferably some experience in bookkeeping but not essential

IT/Software Skills:

  • Proficiency in Xero/MYOB
  • Knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in internet and email applications (e.g., Outlook)

Your Daily Tasks

Bookkeeping Tasks:

  • Set up new clients in accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB) and prepare engagement letters
  • Maintain and update client and partner accounts in bookkeeping systems
  • Process accounts receivable and payable following company procedures
  • Reconcile client bank accounts regularly
  • Manage onboarding of new clients, coordinating with IT for system access
  • Prepare payroll for client staff as needed
  • Generate and send monthly invoices to clients
  • Maintain accurate records and correspondence in designated directories
  • Prepare reports for BAS and other compliance requirements

Accounting Matters Administration:

  • Attend workflow meetings and allocate jobs accordingly
  • Assist in administrative and bookkeeping setup tasks for new clients
  • Set up appropriate bookkeeping matters/milestones for relevant entities

Process Management & Staff Development:

  • Ensure all work processes can be executed smoothly even in your absence
  • Set-up and maintain process manuals and conduct on-the-job training for team backups
  • Co-design induction programs for junior staff and assist in bookkeeping resourcing requirements
  • Conduct or assist in training sessions on Xero/MYOB and general bookkeeping practices
